We Designed This Study For A Group Science Forgot.
Most cosmetic hair studies recruit general populations. We went after the women who needed answers most: peri- and post-menopausal, with clinically confirmed diffuse thinning. Because testing the right problem matters more than collecting tidy data.
Every Result Has A Number Behind It.
A dermatologist assessed each participant at four separate timepoints. An independent lab counted every shed hair. No questionnaire response was used as primary evidence - the objective data came first, always.
Four Months. Progress At Every Step.
Not an early spike that fades. Shedding reduced 33.8% at Week 6, 51% at Month 3, and 60.3% by the end. Every clinical visit showed a better result than the one before. That's what sustained improvement looks like when you're actually measuring it.
How We Measure Our Results.
There's no shortcut to measuring hair loss. We use four distinct clinical methods - each designed to capture a different aspect of what's actually happening at the scalp and follicle level.
Combing Test
Assessing Hair Shedding
A standardized three-comb protocol using a thick flat brush, medium brush, and fine comb - applied sequentially until no more hairs fall out. All detached hairs are collected on dense fabric, dried for 48-72 hours, and manually counted by laboratory staff. Results are recorded at each timepoint and normalized to each participant's Day 0 baseline.
Modified Hair Wash Test
Assessing Hair Loss During Washing
Participants avoid shampooing for 48 hours before each visit. Hair is then washed with neutral shampoo at the clinical facility for 5 minutes. All shed hairs are collected, separated by length — above and below 3 cm — photographed, and manually counted. Hairs longer than 3 cm indicate active follicle shedding; shorter hairs and vellus hairs indicate the severity of diffuse thinning.
Clinical Expert Evaluation
Assessing Visible Hair Thinning
A licensed dermatologist assessed each participant at every visit using the Modified Female Ludwig Scale — a validated 1–9 scoring system that grades the degree of visible hair thinning at the crown and mid-scalp. The same scale is used in prescription hair loss research. Assessment was conducted under standardized conditions at each of the four clinical timepoints.
Standardized Scalp Photography
Assessing Visual Changes Over Time
High-resolution macroscopic photographs were taken at every clinical visit using a Nikon D5600 installed in a HeadScan Bench Light Face — a professional photographic setup that ensures identical lighting, angle, and distance at every session. Images provide consistent visual documentation of changes in scalp coverage and hair density across the 4-month study.
